Hello Everyone!
I would like to officially announce my candidacy for the Hale County Board of Education District 5. First I am not a politician. I am just a father who wants the best opportunities and education for his children.

Biography
I was born in Florida and went to school in Bibb County. My father Otis Ray Grantham Sr died 26 years ago. My mother Margie Sue Rayford is still alive and lives in Bibb County and attends our church. I started preaching at the age of 15 and was youth pastor for around 6 years before I started pastoring. I began public service volunteering at Friendship Volunteer Fire Dept in Hale County. I studied at that Alabama Fire College, and I am a Nationally Registered Paramedic and Certified Flight Paramedic. I have an associate and bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health. I have been a full-time employee at the Alabama Fire College for 10 years now. I am in my second year as the Hale County Athletic Booster Club president. I am firm in my faith and hold conservative values. I have lived in Moundville since 2008. I have worked for Hale County EMS since 2006 and I am still on their roster. My primary call area was the city of Moundville. I fish, hunt and enjoy the outdoors with my family and friends. I believe God should always be first in everything we do.
Family
I am a proud father and husband. I enjoy spending time not only with my family but also within my community helping in various ways. Family is one of the major reasons I have decided to run for school board.
I met my wife Daphne Averette Grantham at the church that I pastor, and we have been married 35 years this past October. My oldest son is 26. He attended Hale County school system his entire education and graduated from Hale County High School. My youngest son is 14 and he presently attends Hale County Middle School. He plays football and baseball.
Community Engagement
I pastor a small church in Hale County, for 26 years , and I have been in public service for Hale County since 2006. I have cared for many in the area while working for Hale County EMS and I have a passion for our community and our children. Presently I teach paramedic at the Alabama Fire College and I understand the importance of a good educational foundation rooted in faith in God.
Platform
Let's talk about the future of our schools.
As a member of this community, I believe it's important for us to come together and strengthen the Hale County School System. Our children deserve the best possible chance at success, and it starts with us as parents to provide them the resources needed to excel. We need to ensure that our school system is equipped with qualified teachers and adequate curriculum to prepare our children best as possible for the challenges ahead.
Let's make our schools a place where students feel inspired, and motivated to reach their full potential. A place that supports their faith in God. Let's make Hale County Board of Education District 5 a model for other districts to follow.
Let’s work together to build a brighter future for our children.
